YUSSUF  IN  ZULAIKHA'S  SPLENDID GARDEN, Jami. «Yussuf and Zulaikha»


Famous poem of Jami “Yussuf and Zulaikha” written in 1483 is dedicated to Sultan-Khusein Baikar. This poem is based on Sufi ideals and about religious love. It is another version of bible story about Beautiful Yusuf and wife of Pentephria.
This miniature belongs to Herat painting school. Axial composition of the picture is typical for a court scene. On the right and left sides there are texts. In the centre of the picture there is Yussuf reading the book. Over his head we see a flaming halo. The tree branches repeat the outlines of the hill, lines of people heads and women’ positions. The last are talking to each other and admiring the beautiful young man. The dresses of the women are decorated by golden buttons and necklaces. A lot of golden tones, green colours of the lawn, bright dresses are typical for tendencies of Bukhara painting school in XVI century.
