Diptychs usually illustrate many literature works. In this case there is a story about a Lebanese hermit walking the sea. One day this hermit all but drowned walking the pool of Damask mosque. His apprentice wants to know the reason of it. The hermit explains that only when you discard everything God blesses you.
We see another style of painting on these miniatures. In the right part of the diptych there is the hermit meditating in the cave. The second part is a genre scene depicting the hermit walking the sea to surprise of fishers. Wear of fishers are drawn detailed. Movements of the hands render their surprise. There are three horizontal lines: sky, ground and water. The details are not important, the author tries to create special atmosphere and render state of meditating mind.
