This miniature depicts death of Darius. Iran tsar Darius was at war with Iskender (Alexander Macedonian (355-323 b.c.). In the centre of composition there is a dead Darius and near we see Iskender in green dress. His finger is at his lips. Around him there are soldiers of Iskender and Darius. One of them covers his face in sigh of grief. The composition has many figures, but it is clear and logical. Soft light green tones and blue and purple colours typical for Oriental painting bear a symbolic idea.
